The COVID-19 crisis has also placed cutting-edge research in an exceptional situation: on the one hand, many colleagues are currently conducting intensive research und playing a key role in dealing with the crisis. At the same time, the federal government’s emergency measures have severely limited the ability to plan and implement projects.

The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is attempting to mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on researchers by offering a range of quick and flexible solutions in the different programmes. At the same time, the introduction of urgent funding is intended to accelerate the initiation of new research projects into existential crises.

Flexible solutions for researchers and applicants

Currently, there are new policies on submissions, project durations, reimbursement and travel cancellations. You can find all the information on this in the continuously updated COVID-19 FAQ.

You can also get an overview of these changes in the current letter of the FWF Executive Board to all FWF principal investigators: letter of 26 March 2020 as a PDF
